The sky and hearts of Seattle heat up in this 2nd of the series By Harold Wolf After Abrianna sees one companion of the Madison Bridal School marrying (book #1) will she be next? Her heart is with serving God and her newest idea of a food house (aka soup kitchen) for the wharf poor is supported by another best school friend Militine. With added support of Thane (boat repair & vol fireman) and Wade (builder), her mission begins. A lot gets in the way. Will the similar abusive father history for Thane and Militine be the tie that binds their hearts? Adrianna's male relationships flounder from besotted to brusque to beguiling surprise as she's freer-than-free to speak her own mind. "REFINING FIRE" is historic suspenseful romance in a richly expressed Seattle harbor setting of days of yore. It is 1889 and if you know Seattle history, you can guess what heats up hotter than romantic relationships. As they say in Seattle, it's a page burner.I am enjoying this Tracie Peterson series. As a male reader, it's the historic aspects of the harbor life, and old city activity that stand out. Ladies will more appreciate the stylish gowns and relationships. All can find meaning in the spiritual aspect of the young men and women of Seattle's past that struggled with hard life and intense situations. Peterson offers good characters and abundant historical detail. But then she's been well-known for that in over 100 books.I'm enjoying the history in this series as much as I did with her "Land of Shining Waters" series. My gift copy came with no review requirement, but I have to share my pleasure in reading more of Seattle's old-style romance and city history. This story drove me to the Internet for more on what happened with Seattle in June, 1889.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. An Enjoyable and Meaningful Story By Crystal This is the first story I’ve read from Tracie Peterson. Already being familiar with her work and knowing her to be a besting selling author, after reading this story, I can see why she is. This story was full of natural humor and meaningful messages from start to finish. This was simply a story I couldn’t put down.Although the blurb makes the story sound like it is just about Militine and Thane, it’s really about them and their friends, Abrianna and Wade. This was not a disappointment to me, because all four of these characters had their own challenges to address that were equally significant and interesting. The natural humor that Abrianna had kept me laughing throughout the story. I like the author’s effectiveness in explaining God’s love and actions throughout the story. I found them to be meaningful to me. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys humor. I certainly plan to read more stories from this author.

Refining Fire by Tracie Peterson Does Not Disappoint By Blessings N' Bloggings Refining Fire is a historical Christian fiction book that is really well written with great character development. The setting of the book is Seattle,Washington in 1889 and centers around 4 main characters, Militine Scott, Abrianna Cunningham, Thane Patton and Wade. Tracie also creates a great set of supporting characters including ones you'll love and some you'll love to hate.The story is excellently created within this historical period and I loved the romances that are developed. My favorite character is Abrianna. Tracie does such a great job with her that you really begin to love her and you can actually feel the loveable frustration that she causes those around her. There are several surprises and the book is an easy read.I enjoyed seeing how the characters grew in their faith and learned the redeeming love of God. Each character has their own struggles and history, some of them very dark. I enjoyed how this group of friends support and encourage each other. If you have never read a book by Tracie Peterson this is a great book to start with and you will soon realize why she is considered one of the best. If you are already a fan, you will not be disappointed.I was given this book in EBook format from NetGalley for my honest review.
