By Louis E Wetmore I will confess that I was a little surprised when I saw that he had switched his main character-but ALL of the great writers (Tolkien, Anthony, Martin) have told entire sagas from different points of view-this creates a rich background tapestry that becomes as much of the tale as the story itself.Once I adjusted to this different point of view it becomes apparent that Nelson is not just going to create a story, he is creating entire realities! My only complaint might be that he is so rich in detail and description that it took a few minutes to come back to the real world after putting the book down! I suspect that Timber Wolf (from the first book in the series "Call of the Wolf" Call of the Wolf (The Kohrinju Tai Saga Book 1)) is going to be making an appearance again in the future...In a world that seems dead set on "30 second sound bites" and "complete resolution before the commercial break" entertainment it is unbelievably refreshing (and rare!) to have come across one of the genuine storytellers; one of the greats who can actually make you see and feel the characters as opposed to being spoon-fed lukewarm anecdotes. Make no mistake; you are going to have to totally immerse yourself the various worlds that make up this reality-don't be surprised if you have a little difficulty coming back.It is obvious that this series is set on building to a very high plateau-all I can say is to grab on with both hands and hang on for dear life!

Cathcart I really loved the first book, Call of the Wolf, and i really wanted to love this book just as much. I didn't like it nearly as much but i think that it is actually my fault and not the authors. My expectations were just much different than what really happens in book 2. The problem is that I was expecting the book to pick up right after where the first book ended. I was also expecting Timber Wolf to be the main character again. Unfortunately the books main character is Jha'Ley, who was introduced at the end of book one. Now don't get me wrong, he's a cool character, but he's not Komain/Timber Wolf. Winds of Torsham doesn't actually catch up to where the first book ended until the last few chapters of this book. There are some Timber Wolf scenes that take place at the time period of book 1 where he is a fighter/slave again. The problem i had was that every page i was reading I was hoping that we would catch up to where TW and Jha'Ley meet so we could get on with it. And it just kept not happening so instead of enjoying what was probably a good story, i just could not get into it. It's tough to enjoy a book when every page you are saying to yourself "come on already!" That's why I said earlier that it wasn't the authors fault that i didn't like it as much. I liked Timber Wolf too much and loved that he was the total focus of the first book and expected that to continue. I'm going to read the book again in a few weeks and I think I might really like it more now that I know what to expect.There is some hope at the end of Winds of Torsham that the focus will shift back to Timber Wolf in book 3. I really hope that happens because he is too good of a character for him to be in the background. There have been a few series that i ended up quitting because of this. Like Peter V Bretts Demon Cycle. In book one he introduced Arlen, who was an amazing character but in later books is in it so much less. I really hope this doesn't happen here. I don't think it will though and I'm still very excited for book 3. I hope that people read this review before going into this book because i truly believe you will like the book more if you know going in that Timber Wolf isn't the main character.

I enjoyed the book By Christer Valkvæ I enjoyed the book, but in my opinion it spent to much time on introducing new characters and worldbuilding and not enough on TW. What made the first book so great, was to follow his journey and getting to know him and see him grow. When i started this book i assumed we would get to read more about him, but 80% of the book introduced other characters etc.. While i liked it i would have enjoyed a 50/50 split more. Still the series is fun to read, but intdocuing new main characters in a second book is a gamble.
