Review In this Christmas abecedary, Bowman and McKinley use sturdy rhymed couplets, accompanied by Biblical quotes and citations, to retell the nativity story both chronologically and alphabetically. On left-hand pages framed by tidy botanical borders, Keay paints large capital letters and the people or events discussed (Joseph takes a hammer to the letter C on an early page); Bowman’s rhymes and Bible verses appear opposite (“A carpenter named Joseph/ chose Mary for his wife./ The news that Mary told him/ would soon change Joseph’s life”). Concrete, nativity-specific words (inn, manger, wise men) share space with terms (king, ruler, savior) that emphasize Jesus’ role: “Though he was just a baby,/ he was born to be a king./ Jesus will reign forever,/ and heaven and earth will sing!” Doll-like characterizations and a soft pastel palette bolster this soothing introduction to the story of Jesus’ birth. (Publishers Weekly)

By mandaandtom Are you looking for a cute new Christmas book to share with your children this coming Christmas season? Believe it or not Christmas is only 97 days away. M is for Manger by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley is definitely a book you'll want to add to your library for your little ones. This book uses each letter of the alphabet to share the story of Christ's birth in a poetic form. Each page also includes the Scripture verse to support why the author picked the word she did for that letter of the alphabet.I thought the illustrations in this book were just beautiful! I love how it uses the alphabet, something so familiar to small children, to tell the story of Jesus' birth. The poems are creative, short and to the point. And what child does not enjoy rhyming! It adds a fun playfulness to the story. I appreciated the fact that Scripture was included to support why they picked the word they did for the letter of the alphabet. This gives parents the opportunity to open their Bibles and show their kids where we can actually find the story of Jesus. If you're looking for a sweet little Christmas book for your child this coming holiday season, pick up this new book from Tyndale House Publishers to add to your collection.***I received this book free from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Delightful for the holiday season By Amazon Customer M is for Manger is a delightful children’s book for the holiday season written by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley, illustrated by Claire Keay.As it goes through the letters of the alphabet, M is for Manger features a piece of the Christmas story for little ones — from the Angel that came to Mary to the Zillions of stars in the sky.I really enjoyed this little alphabet primer all focused on the true Christmas story. While my little one won’t be joining us in time for Christmas this year, I expect next Christmas this will be a much-loved book in our house. The illustrations are simple and adorable, while the letters and rhyming provide a great rhythmic read that children will love. And, of course, this book teaches the story of Jesus’ birth — the center of all of the Christmas celebrations in our house. I love that each page tells a piece of the story and provides the Scripture reference where you can point children when they begin asking more questions as they grow a little older each holiday.I definitely recommend M is for Manger for all those with little ones in their lives!I received a complimentary copy of M is for Manger from Tyndale House Publishers, but I was not otherwise compensated for this review. All writing, thoughts, and opinions are solely mine.

I love, I mean LOVE this book. It takes you through the alphabet and with each letter it tells a different part of the Nativity story. The pictures a beautiful and I love how they weave the story using the letters. They also quote scripture on each page. My children are a bit young so they do like it, but I have a feeling they will love it more as they get older. I can see this book being a Christmas Eve tradition to read. I will also be giving this book as a gift to friends and family with small kids. If you get one children's Christmas book this year make this the one.I received this book free from Tyndale Publishing in exchange for my honest opinion.
