By Lois E Lundin I would have loved having this book - and the rest of the series - when I was teaching. It would be great to read to elementary age students, and families can enjoy it together as well. Although Iran is so much in the news, this book shows us a side of life that we don't usually hear about. We can learn about the spiritual search of many people and how it began in past years. We also can begin to appreciate the challenges of following Christ without the freedom that we have in our land, and it will show us the need to pray for people in our world. It was good to read of how God works in many different ways in people in order to show them His love and bring them to Himself.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. History bridging the gap to Current Events By Anne K Skramsted Living Water in the Desert is an excellent account of the truth of God's work in Iran! It is a fantastic way to introduce children to His work in places where people don't look like us and aren't allowed to do, say, or even think whatever they choose. It is a wonderful jumping off point to teaching children about the freedom we experience here, how we can have a heart full of Jesus and broken for others, and what we can do to share His love every day. As a homeschool mom of small children, I appreciate the sensitivity with which these stories were treated - speaking truth without scaring youngsters. We parents can add more detail as it becomes appropriate, studying both history and current events to see Truth at work.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Family Reading By Keylime1 I read this on my own and now, I can't wait to read this as part of our homeschool day, with our boys! This book is such an encouraging, easily understood read for families. To know God reveals Himself in the most tangible ways is an incredible thought! I am excited for our boys to hear these stories and know that God works in these ways. With negative light being placed on Muslims, it's easy to forget God is still available to them. And, oh, sweet Mina, I'm so happy she didn't "resist temptation".
