By Michelle This is a short story where we make the acquaintance of Hannah Everhart, who lives in Boston just prior to the Revolution. We are familiar with the Everhart family through Jane Yellowrock's friend Molly. Now we see that the genetic witch magic goes back in the family for generations. Why did young Hannah steal a valuable piece of jewelry? Why did the thief-taker not take her in immediately? Who is the mysterious ship captain? Well, you will just have to read the story to find out. I'm sure you will enjoy it.This story involves the Thief-Taker character from the D.B. Jackson series. I have not read any of those stories, but after this introduction I will check them out.I do recommend this story; a nice short bite for when you need a good read but don't have a lot of time.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Historical urban fantasy for the win! By Michelle Botwinick I'm a longtime fan of Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series, so I was excited to meet one of the Everhart's ancestors, a teenage female witch just learning about her abilities. I'm familiar with DB Jackson's work from DragonCon, and I looked forward to meeting the Thieftaker, Mr. Ethan Kaille. This short story was a fun introduction to both characters. I especially liked their collaborative effort in working magic, as successful as the collaboration of Ms. Hunter and Mr. Jackson.
