About the Author Janet lost six of her nine children in a van accident in 1994. She then had the time and motivation to study about Heaven and the New Jerusalem. “What on Earth is Heaven Like?” is the result of many years of her research. She has also shared publicly how God’s grace has sustained her. She was a pastor’s wife for 17 years and has authored and illustrated “A Dad’s Delight”, a children’s picture book about the mercy of God. She and her husband, Scott, have been married over 48 years, have been blessed with 32 grandchildren, and now have great grandchildren as well.

By jmp mommy I want to thank Janet for sharing this part of your life; what the Lord has shown her about the subject of heaven. Even through the suffering experience she has gone through, Janet Willis has given us a part of herself in her artwork and sharing her insights from the Word of God for the place, Heaven, which we all long for. She uses her sufferings, endurance, character and hope and shares them with us. Thank you Janet this book gives us a beautiful study to use.

Thank you for all the details of our future home. Most importantly, the evidence from scripture to strengthen your conclusions. The book is easy to read and understand. The text is very understandable for even a young reader. The last section is perfect for a breaen who wants to study further. The chapter on timing lends to an exciting search of the word. I am thankful for this reality to be proven! The size of our new home is new to me . I am glad Janet sighted her evidence! The art work is beautiful. I would love to have an entire book filled with Janet's work!

A beautiful, sensual, lyrical book By Alexandra I found out about 'The House of Alarcon' through reading another of Dispenza's books, 'The Way of the Traveler.' This is a novel of tremendous beauty, sensual and lyrical. I had no idea this novel existed, or why it didn't become a huge hit when it was published. It's a great reading experience -- fascinating.The book goes back and forth between the present and the past -- all the way back to the conquistadors, in fact. A plot of land that is given to the Alarcon family by the King of Spain in the 1500s becomes the theater for amazing and magical family dramas. This is absolutely first-rate writing, and a story that you can practically feel through the pages.Read it -- you'll love it.

Fine First Novel - Wish He Wrote More By Vance This could have been a series of lyrical short stories tied together as an ancient family history...sometimes lyrical, disturbing, and interesting. The writing suffered at points, and it was clear this was the product of a novice writer. The question is why he didn't write another.

He works with multiple agencies in India finding homes for disadvantaged children. Mukta is the child of a temple prostitute and has also been promised as a follower. Tara’s father rescues Mukta and a deep friendship between the two girls begins. Five years later Mukta is kidnaped from Tara’s bedroom; feeling responsible Tara never forgets Mukta. As an adult Tara travel’s back to her childhood home to search for her long lost friend. The journey will take her through her family secrets and on a path she could not have imagined.Oh you guys…this book. It was amazing. Superbly written; I could smell the flowers and hear the torrent of noise in the marketplace. The world created by Amitra Trasi is superbly real and rich. The characters were painted in such vivid strokes, it was as if they were speaking in my head. Now this is in no way a happy book, it describes human trafficking and child sex workers. It is a brutal book that screams to be read. This book was a marked difference from Hooked (see review here) which almost made light of sex work. The Color of Our Sky is a portrait of how women are used as currency and about ingrained traditions that perpetuate violence against women as normal. This is one of those books that once you read it, you will never forget it.

The prose isn’t very extraordinary but I liked how the character of Mukta was fleshed out By Lynai Lamason There are stories that entertain and there are stories that challenge the reader and spur him into action. The Color of our Sky, for me, falls into the latter category.Aside from being a deeply emotional story about friendship and family, The Color of our Sky is a poignant portrayal of the Indian caste system and a disturbing revelation on prostitution and human trafficking. I don’t know how true some of the scenes are in the book, especially the ones on prostitution and brothels, but I am inclined to believe in their possibility and reality. And this is where I feel most moved and challenged. If what happened to Mukta happens in real life, what can I do to help? My heart breaks for the little girls and women who are imprisoned by their tradition and culture.Reading the book was not a struggle because the prose is very simple. I had a slow start, however, because I felt that the narrative was a bit forced and it seems that I am reading a story from my grade school text book in Reading. The scenes played out from past to present and vice versa which initially confused me, but it was the mystery of the lost child (Mukta) that kept me going. The prose isn’t very extraordinary but I liked how the character of Mukta was fleshed out. I loved her resilience and courage and her firm belief in the goodness of every person. When she tells her story, my heart slowly breaks into pieces, and my tears eventually fell when Mukta gave birth. Those parts in the book were really very painful to read.I haven’t read too many books by Indian authors but the ones I’ve read such as the stories of Jhumpa Lahiri, are about Indian immigrants in America. The Color of our Sky is the first book I read that is entirely set in India. I loved reading about India in this book — the setting and culture. It was an enriching reading experience.When I read the blurb of this book on Netgalley, I had second thoughts of requesting a copy. But I guess I was won over by the desire to read something diverse (i.e. Indian culture) and of course, that beautiful cover. I can nitpick on some of the things that happened in the story such as the time frame and I can complain about my dislike for Tara, but all in all, I loved the book. The Color of our Sky is a very touching read and I didn’t regret reading it. It was one of those books that surprised me — in a good way. I became more aware of the harsh realities of prostitution which is one of the oldest practices in civilization. It affirmed my conviction to do something and to contribute, no matter how small, to the empowerment and education of women and their significant roles in society.

I finished it in one go. It was a good thing it was a holiday so there was no work as such to get through.An unlikely friendship imposed on Tara by her father bring together two little girls from two very different worlds. Mukta born to a caste which practices Devdasi - marrying a girl to the temple goddess. In other words becoming a prostitute of the temple being forced into this life, despite whatever wishes she may have to be different. Tara's father rescues children and eventually sends them on to various orphanages. What makes Mukta different that she remains in Tara's house despite the antagonism and dislike of Tara's mother who treats her as a menial and a servant.Family secrets remain hidden till midway in the book when once beginning to unravel you start to understand why this happens and why that doesnt. How a person can pretend/remain in a fugue about events that have happened in your life, close your eyes and pretend that events did not happen and like an ostrich we hope the problem goes away. So many people in this story acted like this and finally Mukta became the victim.Tara and Mukta's life diverges when Mukta is abducted from the Bombay flat she lives in with Tara's family in Mumbai. Eleven years later, Tara knows that she has to do something. Returning from her life in Los Angeles, Tara tries hard to deal with the bureaucracy of the Mumbai police, the apathy of the detectives who could help her, the mafia and thugs who control the brothel trade and with the help of NGOs and a journalist who is trying to reveal the massive tentacles of the girl trade, they all try to trace Mukta and get her out of the brothel in which she is imprisoned.Culturally so very descriptive of life in Mumbai, a small village on the border of Maharashtra and Karnataka and Los Angeles, the story brings to life a problem that is still a major issue in India. Emotionally haunting till the very end.

It's not often one finds baseball, prewar Germany, the supernatural, and the plight of the Jews combined so seamlessly, let alone artfully. Or at all.Matt Caldwell's The Lost Tribe does strain credulity, but he miraculously pulls it off. The main character, Harry Pike, is a sportswriter who leads a ragtag baseball team into a Nazi Germany primed for war. I liked the setting and the premise, a bit of a different look before the horror got crazy during WW2! I am an avid baseball fan and the baseball part of the story was fun and very dear to my heart! It's hard not to ruin the story, but I liked the choices for the characters and how they we intertwined like the stings inside a baseball! Especially Jane! Looking for to more books by Matthew Caldwell.

This story has heart and soul. A must read. I am so glad I voted for this book on Kindle scout. Thank you amazon and thank you Matthew Caldwell for a truly great read. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A darkly beautiful tale! By Tricia Writing dark, poetic masterpieces is AJ Krafton's specialty. I was captivated by Senza's tale right from page one! But, beware, this story is not for the faint of heart. In fact, I had to put the book down for a brief time because it was so bleak! My absence didn't last long, however, since I couldn't get the characters out of my mind and I just had to know what happened next. It's a compelling, mournful story. Ms. Krafton's writing is filled with luscious detail and vivid descriptions combining to portray an emotionally haunting story. Her writing is emotionally haunting. Senza is filled with curiosity, melancholy and a driven determination to not live the life her mother has chosen for her. With the assistance of the mysterious Mr. Knell, Senza becomes what I like to call, a vampire-like creature, who feeds off the heartbeats of others to survive. It's a unique concept, which I truly enjoyed reading. And personally, I connected with Senza on her obsession with death. It may be one of the reasons I needed to step away from this book. I don't admit to many, but death lingers often in my thoughts because I lost my mother at a young age. I understand that mortality is fragile and brief and those who are left behind are the ones to suffer. If only there was a way to cheat Death, to live forever… Although, Senza's particular thoughts and actions might have been different than my own, I could definitely sympathize which made my reading this story so much more raw and heartfelt. This one is, by far, one of my most favorite and memorable books written by Ms. Krafton!P.S. I just LOVE the artwork on this cover! It's gorgeous!

The story takes places in 1860 following Senza Fyne. Senza has it all. She is smart, beautiful, young, wealthy and well connected. Yet in this time the only thing a woman had to do was find a suitable husband, but Senza is preoccupied not with life and all that lay before her. She is focused on what is to come...death. With people dying all around her. She begins to worry about her own mortality. Enters Mr. Knell a man who can help Senza maintain the life she so craves, but at what cost.The character of Senza was well written. And I was drawn into her story completely. I may not have taken the route Senza did, but I understood where she was coming. I really enjoyed the story. It was a little slow in some areas, but overall it was a great. It was so easy to get sucked in. I truly love these kinds of stories the Victorian gothic style.

Apparently there is a new genre for those in their late teen and twenties. This novel follows the adventures of Senza, who appears to be 17 years old, and in the mid Victorian period, because of her wealth, she is about to "come out" into society. She is beautiful, and her mother wants her to be successfully married, for that is the only significant objective for a young woman of the time. However, shortly her grandmother dies, and Senza becomes somewhat morbid about death. It is then she meets Mr Knell, who with magic, offers her a deal: she can have eternal life and remain her beautiful self for eternity. There is only one catch, which she finds out as she becomes committed: she prolongs her life by stealing increments from others, in the form of what are described as "heartbeats". (She does not need to steal a beat for every time her heart beats, but they are consumables.) The story then follows Senza as she experiences immortality, at the price of stealing life from others. Each day, as she wakes up, she is exactly the same as the previous waking. If she cuts her hair, it is uncut. If she was wounded, she is repaired.The book is well-written, its style is restrained, although the descriptions are somewhat lush. However, the descriptions of death, and of Senza's watching all her friends age and die, are compelling. Senza knows she cannot marry, as she cannot inflict her youth on a husband, and she cannot have children, because she returns to yesterday's self each morning. The book offers social commentary of the period from mid Victorian to close to the present, and makes some points for those who want to think about what they have read. Well done.

By Pam Wortham If you are looking for adventure and adventure The Dragon's Quest will not disappoint. A group of various characters come together entering an adventure filled with magic and technology. The characters are easy to care about and the story has plenty of twists and turns. An enjoyable read.

A Cyberfantasy that carries the feeling of a Tabletop adventure without all the dice-based crunch. While following the memorable cast of characters, it's hard to not get wrapped up in what they see, and their interactions within the world are equally as gripping. There were sections I had to set the book down due to laughing so hard, and in one case, from anger at a characters actions. It knows how to guide you well across the lands, and across the emotions with every page.To counter my praise, there is the occasional spelling and grammar errors, but I've seen worse in books from better known authors with editing teams. They're never to the point where you cannot understand what is being said.It still remains a story I will be returning to again. It stays with you, and once I was finished, I wanted more. I want the sequel. I want the full stories of this parties backgrounds. I wanted to see everything this world could give me. As filling as this story was, it left its hooks behind, and it's pulling me still.
