The first two, Last Run of the Whisperer and St. George's Cross and the Siege of Fort Pitt, were historical fiction books about the American Revolution and French and Indian War respectively. This book, Valiant Warrior: Knight of the Third Crusade, is a historical fiction book about an ancestor of the author, Sir Richard Fowler, who goes on crusade with the Knights Templar, King Richard, and other crusader armies. The author has a keen interest in history and writing historical fiction books, as seen in his first two writings. This book, although not about American history, is timeless, as the author writes about the history of the Holy Lands and the struggles between the Christians and Muslims to control the Levant and Jerusalem, as seen through the eyes of his main character, Sir Richard Fowler.

By John Daley The author tells a very interesting story about a group of men who formed in England and were lead into battle in the Mideast by Sir Richard Fowler. The book provides insight into what motivated the Christians to fight to recapture the Holy Land and Jerusalem, which had been taken over by Muslims. There are detailed descriptions of the battles that were fought; using tactics of the day. Readers will enjoy getting to know Richard Fowler and his crusaders as they journey from England to the Mideast and back.You won't be able to read this book and not think about the current state of affairs in the Mideast. It's is a quick read and easy to follow.
