Suspending this, it is a short so it's a little expected. I still really enjoy the character building and the storyline that Sheeran has created, hence the 4 star rating. If it wasn't for that little bias, this would have rated only 3, with the editing as abysmal as it is.****spoiler***** The introduction of new interests adds some welcome tension, but lessens the initial strength of certain characters and their resolve. The interactions seem rushed and emotions are a bit rampant, going from one extreme to another, anger and animosity in one paragraph and forgiveness and lust in the time it takes to cross a room. Although this makes it hard to really like either leads fully, there is enough still there to keep me anxious to finish the series.

The police procedures, autopsy and forensic threads are chock full of all the right details, and the characters are believable and interesting. My issues with this book were two-fold. With only 53 pages, surely you would make sure to edit out all the typos? There don't have to be many to give an impression of sloppiness, which was such a shame as there was so much to like about this book. The second issue was with the number of occasions that the characters found time to carry on sexual liaisons in the workplace. It doesn't remind me of any place I ever worked. I wish I hadn't retired. How would I have rated this book, if it hadn't raised those concerns - 4.5* to 5*.
