Sometimes life really is romantic. Bluestocking Ariadne Courdebas never thought she’d play the heroine in her own romantic novel until a chance encounter with handsome intelligence agent Jason Sinclair pulled her into the world of espionage. Now with the help of her sister Daphne and friends Priscilla Tate and Lady Emily Southwell, she’s chasing French spies across 1815 London and uncovering treasonous plots that could the shape the outcome of the war with Napoleon, all while pretending to be engaged to Sinclair. It would be perfectly thrilling if she could just manage to secure vouchers for that exclusive club Almack’s like all the other debutantes! As secrets and scandals collide, she finds herself wishing for more than just pretend. Can Ariadne use her considerable eloquence to convince Sinclair to play her hero, forever? This clean romantic mystery set in the Regency period features kisses only. Reader praise for Ballrooms and Blackmail, the previous book in the series: “The characters are all great, the mystery and story very well done as well.” “Enjoyable plots and surprises that made it difficult to put them down.”

Lady Emily Capers Series Book Four By Jutzie Eloquence and Espionage by Regina ScottLady Emily Capers Series Book FourAriadne Courdebas, youngest daughter of Viscount Rollings meets a mysterious man dressed as a Roman centurion at a masquerade ball and is determined to find him again. Since he had a leather mask covering his face, she just knows he had longish black hair and dark eyes. How hard can he be to find in London?Jason Sinclair, Lord Hawksbury, had secrets that he needed to keep. When the pretty young woman he met at the ball tries to find him, he has to get her off his trail. He has a dangerous man to find and she will only find herself in danger. Or is it too late already?I really enjoyed this story. For the whole story and to get to know the characters, here are the first three books in this series; Secrets and Sensibilities, Art and Artifice and Ballrooms and Blackmail. Humor, adventure, and romance in one.

She and her older sister, Daphne, are having their first Season. But while Daphne received vouchers to Almack’s, she did not. Though Ariadne wishes she could attend, she is pleased that her sister may go. (The two sisters adore each other.)It has been four days since the intriguing events at Lord Rottenford’s masquerade ball and Ariadne is craving some adventure – something she gets often thanks to her friend, Lady Emily Southwell. Ariadne soon finds herself on the lookout for a French spy.Jason Sinclair, heir to the Marques of Winthrop, is a secret intelligence agent. He is currently on the hunt for a French spy. When the spy almost kills Ariadne, he knows that he must follow and protect the lady at all costs. Protecting Ariadne gets easier when her father catches him kissing her. As his betrothed, Jason has reason to be by her side often. The lady knows that the engagement is not real, but is eager to assist him. Now if he can only keep his feelings for Ariadne from growing.**** THREE & A HALF STARS! This tale begins shortly after the last Lady Emily Caper ends; however, each story in this series can stand alone. Ariadne’s character is in interesting one. She constantly looks at the world around her as if it was a story in a book and she is excited to be playing the lead heroine this time. She can get carried away some times. She also has a secret unknown to Society, which could ruin her if it be discovered. Jason’s character is younger than I am used to, but with all he has had to deal with (and is still dealing with) in his life, he is very mature. All the characters from the previous titles are present, but they play minor roles. I have come to adore these characters and I am eagerly looking forward to the fifth story. ****Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

Her journal’s constant presence and her literary mind made me love her from the first novel in this series and having her front and center in this story, with just a dash of Regency intrigue, makes it my favorite of the series.Reading about characters who either love to read or to write is something that I find irresistible. Maybe it started with Austen’s Northanger Abbey, or perhaps it is the near-breach of the boundaries between reality and fiction, but I really engage with these types of stories. I enjoy tracking with the fictional characters and learning something about my own obsession with the written word in the process. There is something a little bit more in the romance as well—more heart-pounding action and a taste of danger infused directly into the relationship; more kisses to curl the toes, too. And I adore that our heroine is imperfect even as the hero loves her, imperfections and all. She doesn’t have to change to earn his love; she only needs to be herself. Now then, as I’ve binge-read this series, it’s time to pick up book five and find out the rest of the story. Though I must admit, it will be hard to say goodbye to these characters I have so thoroughly enjoyed reading about and watching grow and change through the past four books. For anyone who is considering this series: I highly recommend it, but make sure you start at the beginning to get the full effect and maximum enjoyment!I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for this honest review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.
