About the Author Michael Arno Bender (1938 - 2015) was born in Oregon, lived in California before marrying and settling in Idaho. He had studied history and philosophy, and was in the military where he learned Russian and Chinese. Michael had a life long interest in Spain, especially in Andalusia where Judaism, Christianity, and Islam interacted over the 800 years that the Arabs were there. This is his second book.

Clever characters and an entertaining story about a young man's search for knowledge.The setting is historical, taking place in Medieval times. The main character's (Guillaume) journey takes him from his homein France to Spain, India and China.The author does a great job of capturing the times and way of life of the people with whom Guillaume comes in contact.Well researched information on the medical science of the times.
