By Rebecca Maney "A woman who kept her word would surely keep her vows", wouldn't she? . . . . . wonders the man who cannot decide about marrying someone who has admittedly made some mistakes when it comes to love. And the woman in question has plenty of reasons to doubt a man who drove his mail-order bride of only seven months straight into the arms of another. Doesn't she?Silas Jonesy and Kate Dawson meet under the strangest of circumstances. Silas has responded to a letter from his unknown-to-him -dying wife, while Kate has not only befriended Lucinda Riverton Jonesy, but has voluntarily made sure that her young son is well cared for during his mother's extended illness. When Anthony Riverton's mother quietly passes away, Silas is confronted with a second man claiming to be Anthony's biological father. Kate finds no reason to release the boy to either man, but when a judge makes the final decision and Anthony disappears, Kate and Silas spend days searching for him, ultimately realizing that they have much more in common than a lonely, frightened little boy. Unfortunately, they also discover some possibly insurmountable differences."A Bride at Last" has a clever, intriguing beginning and a "boots and bottles" scene near the ending which was deeply emotional and brilliantly written. Add interesting town folks and numerous "sparks-flying" conversations and this historical read has much to offer any admirer of inspirational fiction. I am grateful to the author for an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

By Coffee Addicted Writer (Billy) I was expecting a simple mail-order-bride where the a women goes out west and and falls in love with a troubled man, but that isn't exactly what I got here. The story here is set in my home state of Missouri, where the main characters, Silas and Kate, have already both tried to find love through mail-order-bride way and both failed. I wasn't for sure if I was going to like the book, but by the fifth chapter I was hooked into the plot and quickly finished reading it. Overall, A Bride At Last is a well-written romantic tale with a few surprises here and there.I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is the fourth offering in her "Unexpected Bride Series" and in my humble opinion, it is her best yet.The story begins in Missouri in September 1885 where we meet schoolteacher Kate Dawson, the heroine of the story, and her student Anthony Riverton. In time we meet homesteader Silas Jonesey, the story's hero. I must say he is definitely swoon-worthy. The picture on the cover of both characters serve them well.I want so much to tell you everything about this wonderful story but I never give out spoilers. I can tell you this, there are mysteries hidden within the covers of this book. While it is a historical love story, the reader is drawn into a story that has a few twists and turns that lead the reader deeper into the story. If I had had the time, I would have read this book in one sitting. As it is, once I began reading I lost all track of time and when I had to pull myself out of the story I was quite reluctant to do so.This is a story about forgetting old hurts, learning to trust, and reaching out to others. The characters in this book were so lifelike that they became real to me and I truly hated to see them go. There are times when I finish a book I begin to wonder after I finish what happened next. Of course I have to remind myself it is just a story. But in A Bride at Last, Ms. Jagears offers the reader an Epilogue that allows us to see eight years into the future. I truly appreciated being given that gift.Would I suggest this book to others? Definitely. I would suggest it to anyone who loves a good clean love story. The Christian theme that flows throughout the book is not overpowering but adds to the story quite nicely. On a 5-Star Scale - 5 HUGE Stars!!!!!I would like to thank Ms. Jagears and Bethany House for my copy of A Bride at Last. I received my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review, which I have done.
