Novellas #3 (formerly Three Novellas Plus One) is the third of a series of books that tell more than one hundred unrelated stories about people in challenging situations. The Underworld is an experience that a family of five has when they are the victims of an earthquake as they ride in a rented boat while on vacation. They are transported into an underground place where animals and plants believed to be extinct still survive. Their adventure includes being attacked by animals, saving a stranger and more, as they attempt to escape the subterranean world they are thrust into. The story of Floriana takes place in 79 A.D., during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The tale describes the event and its impact on the young woman and her loved ones. Ghost Story tells of occurrences at a house that survived to modern times that served as a place where wounded soldiers were cared for during the American Civil War. A mystery surrounds the place that is eventually solved by a neighbor. Imagine a meteorite landing near your home, and in your curiosity you attempt to retrieve it. But instead of just a space rock, you find that it carries proof of extraterrestrial intelligent species, as well as information about the history of our planet. The have an amazing adventure, and make a heartwarming new friend along the way.Floriana - I once knew a woman whose mother, as a young girl, had lived in Hiroshima. She had been visiting friends in another town the day the bomb hit. This story was almost the exact same story. Lucky lucky lucky.Ghost Story - A nasty, brutish, insular town in the south that makes up a story in their own heads to justify bullying their neighbors. Their neighbors, God bless them, have their own concerns and don't give a d@#%.Time Window - A man finds an artifact in a meteorite, and is savvy enough to recognize it's potential right away.I was really drawn into these stories. Sometimes I snort when I laugh. I snorted a lot during Ghost Story. Cried some too. Jeesh. Good book.

The stories were intriguing and entertaining. I found the stories to be creatively unique and the characters well developed. Looking forward to reading additional pieces by this author.
