By William G McKenzie This is Tracy Tonkinson's first "Diamond and Doran" novel and I was completely engaged in the story and the characters right from the first page. Madman is a murder-mystery set in Chicago in 1886. Arthur Diamond is a new recruit to the Chicago Police Force, but he is in no way inexperienced, having served in the British military in his past life. His boss is the tough, no-nonsense Irish-American Billy Doran and this unlikely combination of characters take us on a breakneck adventure through the grimy, crime-ridden streets of Chicago in search of a serial killer. One of the signs of a good book is what is going on in your mind after you put it down and I found myself caring about the characters and wondering what would be happening to them when I resumed my reading. You can almost smell the sweat and putrid odours of the Chicago Stockyards and hear the clanging bells of the streetcars as you read through this story. The complex characters of Diamond and Doran are revealed layer by layer as the story unfolds, and Tonkinson has left us eagerly anticipating the next novel in the series.

I especially enjoy books which give me a "history" lesson, as well as a good read. This one fits the bill. Can't wait to read the next book. Hoping there will be many more to come.

Review

“This is a splendid edition. Its introduction is an authoritative and up to date guide to the novel and its context. A generous and judicious selection of contemporary reviews of East Lynne and the sensation novel further amplify the context, and provide an excellent resource for students.” ― Lyn Pykett, University of Wales-Aberystwyth

“In his introduction, Andrew Maunder suggests that East Lynne may be ‘one of the most famous unread works in the English language.’ This immensely readable and teachable edition should help to preserve its fame while increasing its readership. Maunder locates the novel in its various contexts―social, historical, and literary―focusing especially on the material conditions of the novel’s publication, and the various “woman questions” of the middle nineteenth century. The supplemental materials are thorough and well-chosen, and for the selections from T. A. Palmer’s theatrical adaptation alone, the Broadview edition would be my choice for teaching.” ― Elisabeth Rose Gruner, University of Richmond

It's not the sort of book I usually like much - the oft-told story of a woman seduced by a villain into leaving her happy home, and the shame, remorse, and misery that follow her downfall - but I found it very readable, I would even say a page-turner. Plenty of pathos and moralizing, as there generally is in these things, but much better than I expected.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Eminently Enjoyable By Clarissa's Blog This 700-page novel published in 1861 is enormously enjoyable. East Lynne has everything to grab a reader’s attention and never let it go: a murder investigation, a love triangle, adultery, mystery, creepy but irresistible seducers and seductresses, and the kind of plot where something exciting happens on every single page. Of course, I can’t address every aspect of this great novel in a short review, so I will concentrate on the theme that interested me the most and that, I believe, is central to the novel: emotional stupidity.Archibald Carlyle, the novel’s protagonist, is a good man. He is hard-working, sincere, loyal, honest, and kind. However, he possesses one tragic flaw that makes all of these admirable qualities completely useless. Mr. Carlyle has the emotional intelligence of a door knob. He is completely incapable of noticing that other human beings have feelings. His indifference to the emotional experiences of others rises to the level of sociopathy. As a result, Mr. Carlyle, who never willingly commits a bad or unkind act, ends up destroying people who are the closest to him. He loves his wife Isabel but it never crosses his mind to take her feelings seriously. Her husband’s utter emotional stupidity eventually drives Isabel to abandon her family. She is willing to do anything but continue living by the side of an emotionally dead man.Whenever Mr. Carlyle is forced to confront the unexpected reality that human beings have feelings of their own and don’t move through life as smiling machines, he becomes very perplexed and dismisses this unwelcome realization. He walks through life leaving pain, suffering, and death in his wake. I think we have all met a few people who have the same flaw as Mr. Carlyle. Such folks might be very well-meaning and nice, yet their emotional stupidity makes them fatal. I don't fear a nasty evil-doer half as much as I do somebody who is emotionally stupid.

For modern readers, you may feel its weakness is in the context of its Victorian era, with the way it characterizes the actions, looks, and language of the people in it.Children who say "hark", women who are constantly turning as pale as their clothes, men who shiver in horror, etc.If you can get beyond this, you will find an enjoyable book with a fairly complex number of main characters with an increasingly twisty plot that solves a murder and at the same time adds a tale of love gone upside down. Mistaken identities, facts, motivations rule the plots.A man is shot inside his house. The apparent murderer says he didn't do it but the one he accuses seems innocent, mostly because he couldn't be placed at the scene. On another front, a man and woman marry and start a family in happy circumstances. Then the man appears to fall for another woman, putting the wife in deep despair. She goes off with another man, later to regret abandoning her husband and children. Thinking her dead, the husband remarries only to have the first wife reappear in disguise to be the governess to their children. The book sucked me in for hours at a time wondering what was going to happen next. Its also stayed with me well after I finished it.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great beginning to series By Rachel J. Hilton A great start to a new series. It was clean(no swearing, no sex)and it was quite different from the usual mail order bride books that I've read. I like this sub-genre (not sure if that's correct, but it's what I use for mail order bride books)immensely and have several in my "library". This is one that will remain. The storyline was unique and interesting. The child of a "soiled dove", so to speak, going west to become a mail order bride....not by choice, but to "save" her family due to stipulations in her father's will. And the prospective groom also not quite "wanting" to be married, but due to circumstances finding it the best solution (I'm trying not to give any/many spoilers). Absolutely loved it. This is a good first book(in this genre)for the author. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series, about Everly's younger sister, Sarah.

Read By jlm This was a very interesting story at least to me as my mother never married my father but I never had the opportunity to know or meet him as he was killed in a car accident when I was 2yrs. Old and my mother had moved us back to her home state.

Gary Cannon has been a trained killer since before he was a man. He is one of, if not the best assassin in the world. His life for more than a decade has been one death following another. He has been the hunter and the hunted. He has operated in all conditions, in all parts of the world. Since his first assignment he has avoided working on American soil, but in the summer of the country’s bicentennial he finds himself in Nebraska. He has been given the names of four people all set to die by his hand. Even before he can begin he is feeling uneasy, his history of operations in the United States is weighing heavy on him. Gary has no idea how well founded his uneasiness may truly be. Is this seasoned operative losing his edge, or are there larger forces working against him? Killing Sanford is the first novel of the Gary Cannon trilogy. The story held my attention and my mind had no problem picturing the action as I read. The action was believable (no MacGiver stuff here), as was the story line ( you KNOW governments DO contract with assassins, all the time). There were very few swear words, the sex scene was left to your own imagination, and there was only one explicit torture scene. Thank you, very much, Mike! Anything more only takes away from the real writing. The only negative comment that I have is about the editing. I think this needed better editing. I am looking forward to this writer's next two planned books and maybe some movie scripts, too.

Killing Sanford sees Gary reluctantly working on US soil, with a quadruple hit slated to take place in Omaha. He hopes that sticking to field protocol will shift the intense unease that’s been dogging him since he climbed out onto the runway, but old nightmares continue to dog him as he makes his reconnaissance of the targets. Eventually, driven by the nagging sense that something is badly amiss, he calls in the details of one of the hits to his HQ, only to find that he’s pulling on the tail of something bigger and much more dangerous than he’d anticipated, bound up in old history.Mike Kershner’s style features cameos of the history underpinning Gary’s current situation, the story weaving between 1976 Omaha and the period just after WWII and later, describing the events leading to the founding of Sanford International. Killing Sanford pulls this off better than many stories, with the various timelines transitioning smoothly from one to the other. I did find that the pacing of the story was held back by the level of description, and in places repetition, as well as the writing style, which was awkward enough in places to pull me out of full immersion in the storyline. Aside from that, however, the plot was strong, with some interesting twists and turns. Definitely a good read in the Jack Higgins genre for thriller fans.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

From the Author "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2).    Paul's words to Timothy still apply to us today. There is a need to raise up teachers who clearly and fearlessly teach the Word of God. It is with this hope in mind that The Bible Teacher's Guide (BTG) series has been created. The series includes both expositional and topical studies. This guide will be useful for teachers who are preparing to lead small groups or give sermons, or for an individual's devotional study.

About the Author Greg Brown earned his MA in religion and MA in teaching from Trinity International University, an MRE from Liberty University, and a PhD in theology from Louisiana Baptist University. He has served over ten years in pastoral ministry and currently serves as Chaplain and Assistant Professor at Handong Global University, pastor at Handong International Congregation, and as a Navy Reserve chaplain. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Game Changer By K. Spencer This book is a great resource to Bible teachers and small groups, but it is so simple that anyone could read it and gain understanding. That is one of the things I love the most about this book, is it’s accessibility. The Biblical principles of leadership that Gregory Brown explores and expands on from the book of Nehemiah have the potential to change the world. If every leader would allow the principles in this book to shape their lives and leadership styles, we would see a great change, and even as Brown suggests many times, revival.“Jesus said when the church is unified, we will see many souls come to Christ; the world will know that Jesus came from God…Sadly, most ministries swing to the other extreme. Most churches and ministries work very independently. In fact, they are often so worried about losing members that they never work with other churches at all. However, when you look at the early church, which also experienced revival, they were very unified.”After reading this book, I can confidently state that Brown is a brother in the Lord that wants to see the lives of many transformed by the love of God through servant leadership. He discusses important topics such as unity, dealing with discouragement, leading by example, serving even when we don’t like the job or feel qualified, the importance of dealing with conflict instead of overlooking it, and how to deal properly with the provision God has given us.This book would a blessing to any believer that wants more clarity on what it means to faithfully serve Jesus Christ, whether they are in leadership or not.

If you are a leader, an aspiring leader or if you are forming leaders, and you desire to let God lead through you, this book is for you. Like in all of Pastor Brown's books, every point is supported by Scripture. The writing is clear, concise and easy, and the questions walk you through the book while helping you see your thoughts and ideas in the light of God's Word (and by the way, it personally helps me to answer the questions plainly and honestly, without trying to elaborate). The way this book is organized works well for personal devotions as well as for small groups: each characteristic of a godly leader is studied along with supporting Scripture and application questions. And if you think godly leadership is not a topic for you, think again. God may be calling you to lead a unit as small as a family. Or you may be raising leaders in your house, in your classroom, etc. I am not the type that assertively takes on leadership positions, but this book did remind me of the dire need for godly leaders in this world, and of the importance of training to be a godly leader. Who knows, God may train you through this book and then call you to raise or to be a leader.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The author weaves archeology, history, Scripture and commentary into an accessible, absorbing read By Margaret Welwood, Scissortown "A leader is made by what he does in solitude, and a leader is broken down by what he does in solitude." (p.49)How is it that a book written centuries ago can teach us how to live well today and tomorrow? As I watch the story of Nehemiah unfold before my eyes, Greg provides profound insights from both the Old and New Testaments. I learn the characteristics of godly leaders, and solutions for problems plaguing our families, churches and nations. This book is accessible, even conversational, in tone, yet Greg clearly reverences God and His Word as he exhorts us to “servant leadership.” The applications he draws from Scripture apply to all of us, whatever our station in life.I appreciate his clear stance that although a godly leader exposes sin in others, “we must be aware of our [own] sin and constantly repenting of it” (p. 29). I find this to be a balanced treatment. Greg neither prescribes a “holier than thou” attitude, nor excuses sin by calling it by another name. Neither does he embrace the extremes of the “I am beautiful. I am loved,” movement that almost seems to deny the possibility of sin in the believer.Greg’s on our team. “You have a very specific role,” he tells us, and provides powerful principles for battling discouragement and slander, resolving conflict, and coping with prosperity that apply to any type of Christian service.“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” Proverbs 25:11 (KJV)--and there are many "fitly spoken words" in this clear, insightful and uplifting tribute to Nehemiah and the God he served.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What is your true identity? How was it shaped: through your parents, your friends, a spouse, etc.? Or, is your identity defined by your relationship with God, the Heavenly Father who knew you before you were born and placed in you a purpose that only you can complete in life? For Jessica Rollins, her identity had been determined through the difficult challenges and circumstances she underwent from her birth into adulthood. It wasn't until God found her, through salvation in Jesus, that she came to discover her true identity in Christ. Her story is revealed in the new book by author Angela Bailey, I Am My Father's Daughter, which accompanies Jessica's story with helpful words of wisdom situated in biblical truths. Jessica began her life as one of fourteen children to a single mother involved with a married man. An unfortunate cooking accident led to Jessica suffering second-degree burns on her body...but meeting the man, Mr. Jake, who was her father.  Their lack of relationship only intensified Jessica's efforts to find her identity and love in other places, even in sex trafficking on the streets of Tennessee. Despite her circumstances, Jessica continued to pray to God for Him to love her and release her from the lies of Satan that had crippled her identity.  Little did Jessica know the amazing ways God would answer this heartfelt prayer and bless her with the relationship she desperately needed from her Father. I Am My Father's Daughter is not only a reflection on the journey Jessica endured to realize herself as a beloved daughter of God, but to educate women of all ages in the blessed peace that comes from finding one's identity in Christ. Your identity shouldn't be placed in the hands of any person, place or thing, but in the only hands that can help your identity bloom in its purpose: God's.

André’s clear and pure writing is a joy to read and made me appreciate anew the beauty and expressiveness of the Afrikaans language. He tells a cracking tale, drawing us in with interesting, well developed characters and then building the tension to a climax that made putting the book down near impossible. Clearly he is passionately curious about his subject matter and writes from a very solid foundation of knowledge. From this, he provides just enough background detail to provide the reader with a vivid landscape without slowing the plot. His love for the Karoo landscape, which he so evocatively describes, is effecting and made me want to visit those locations. This is a great book. It would make an excellent film or TV series in any language, but if there is someone out there looking to make a great Afrikaans mini-series for the SABC, this is the book for you.

Easy steps to simplify your life

Socrates once said “The secret to enjoying life is not found in seeking more but by developing the capacity to enjoy less”. Do you find your life too complicated, confused, chaotic, and disorganized? Do you feel you cannot move on to things easily because you have so much to hold on to? For instance, do you find trouble in moving and shifting to a new house because of the scores of furniture items and goods you have stored? If yes, then you are accustomed to living a very elaborate life wherein you like to have everything in excess even if you don’t need it. Émile François Zola is one of the greatest writers of the 19th century, and one of France’s best known citizens. In his life, Zola was the most important exemplar of the literary school of naturalism and a major figure in the political liberalization of France. Around the end of his life, Zola was instrumental in helping secure the exoneration of the falsely accused and convicted army officer Alfred Dreyfus, a victim of anti-Semitism. The Dreyfus Affair was encapsulated in the renowned newspaper headline J'Accuse. More than half of Zola's novels were part of this set of 20, collectively known as Les Rougon-Macquart. Unlike Honore de Balzac, who compiled his works into La Comedie Humaine midway through, Zola mapped out a complete layout of his series. Set in France's Second Empire, the series traces the "environmental" influences of violence, alcohol and prostitution which became more prevalent during the second wave of the Industrial Revolution. The series examines two branches of a family: the respectable Rougons and the disreputable Macquarts for five generations. Zola explained, "I want to portray, at the outset of a century of liberty and truth, a family that cannot restrain itself in its rush to possess all the good things that progress is making available and is derailed by its own momentum, the fatal convulsions that accompany the birth of a new world."

The Fortune of the Rougons, by Emile Zola

About the Author ?mile Zola was a French writer who is recognized as an exemplar of literary naturalism and for his contributions to the development of theatrical naturalism. Zola s best-known literary works include the twenty-volume Les Rougon-Macquart, an epic work that examined the influences of violence, alcohol and prostitution on French society through the experiences of two families, the Rougons and the Macquarts. Other remarkable works by Zola include Contes ? Ninon, Les Myst?res de Marseille, and Th?r?se Raquin.

In addition to his literary contributions, Zola played a key role in the Dreyfus Affair of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. His newspaper article J Accuse accused the highest levels of the French military and government of obstruction of justice and anti-semitism, for which he was convicted of libel in 1898. After a brief period of exile in England, Zola returned to France where he died in 1902. ?mile Zola is buried in the Panth?on alongside other esteemed literary figures Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas.

Perkin A Pinch of Nutmeg is a coming of age journey into Europe's and Eastern 16th-century kitchens that had just enough intrique, court skullduggery and servings of unique history, to keep this reader coming back for more. Told in a distinct fashion that entices with its flavorsome dialogue, colorful assortment of characters and rich descriptions of history; you just may learn something new about the spices, herbs and everyday foodstuffs in your own kitchen pantries. The travels in this book are ones that are sure to delight the culinary curious as we follow a young kitchen boy who dreams of being a master de cuisine. The pages are chocked full of savory and sweet descriptions of period dishes and I will be the first to admit, I had to stop reading once or twice to go and get something to nosh on. Which was perfect because A Pinch of Nutmeg is a paced read and momentary breaks are encouraged to those interested but be sure to come right back because the 16th century topics shared in these pages are just fascinating and a few surprising smacks of drama (in and outside kitchens), counterplots and passion are waiting to be enjoyed.Overall, I enjoyed A Pinch of Nutmeg. It had the morsels of trivia I crave to find in my fiction and I thought this was a lucky find. The only negatives I can note are the pacing, a few slips with more modern terms and phrases used but perhaps those are things easily explained by a translation error? For me, I found the mysteries and brief darker tones unfortunately underplayed and simply forgotten as the story moved from one place to another. Finally the romances at times seemed unbelievable and a little silly venturing into a disappointing bodice ripper realm (but again it may just be the translation). Negatives aside, this was a fascinating debut and journey into unfamiliar topics of the 16th century and I look forward to reading more from this author. I would recommend A Pinch of Nutmeg to readers hungry for a coming of age adventure that also has some surprises waiting for the history and culinary minded.____________________________________________________________________________________________________* I would like to thank Amazon Crossing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and enjoy A Pinch of Nutmeg.

For some reason, the translator decided to appropriate 16th century language using "thee" "sayeth", etc. For me it disrupts the flow of reading. I am a 21st century reader and like my books written in 21st century idioms. I know people spoke differently 500 years ago. I don't need to be hit over the head with this fact. Be aware that this is a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when writers (or in this case translators) appropriate old speech patterns or accents when writing. Such as many novels set in Scotland or France.I made it through about half the book before the language got so annoying that even my interest in the book could not keep me going. All in all, the story seems to be good and I would have definitely finished the book if not for that problem.

Wolff History came alive!I loved the descripton of daily life of a common person striving for aprovement and self fulfilment. It was a thrilling journey through the cooking history in medieval times and the story of young Jacob began in an humble environment and endet up in the royal palace in France. His experiences in Italy and the Osman empire have been very interesting and enlightening. I strongly recommend this book not only for foodies but also for individuels seeing the development of the European kitchen and individuel life.

Manga Classics: Emma Hardcover, by Jane Austen

About the Author One of England s most beloved authors, Jane Austen wrote such classic novels as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Northanger Abbey. Published anonymously during her life, Austen s work was renowned for its realism, humour, and commentary on English social rites and society at the time. Austen s writing was supported by her family, particularly by her brother, Henry, and sister, Cassandra, who is believed to have destroyed, at Austen s request, her personal correspondence after Austen s death in 1817. Austen s authorship was revealed by her nephew in A Memoir of Jane Austen, published in 1869, and the literary value of her work has since been recognized by scholars around the world.Crystal Chan grew up as a mixed-race kid in the middle of the Wisconsin cornfields and has been trying to find her place in the world ever since. She has published articles in several magazines; given talks and workshops across the country; facilitated discussion groups at national conferences; and been a professional storyteller for children and adults alike. In Chicago, where Crystal now lives, you will find her biking along the city streets and talking to her pet turtle. "Bird" is her first novel.

A Classic Remade- Sweet and Delightful with Strong Visual depictions By Sophia Rose I just had the opportunity to read the delightful Pride & Prejudice rendition for the Manga Classics series so I eagerly snatched this one up to read Jane Austen's Emma turned into a graphic novel. While I enjoyed many of the same aspects of this one that I did in P&P, I didn't love it. More on that in a minute. The story follows the same path as the original with the same characters as it should. Emma is a young lady from a good family who happens to be one of the two leading families in the neighborhood. She is lovely and has never felt want, but while she triumphs in the thought that it was her stellar matchmaking skills that brought her gentle lady companion and a wealthy businessman together, she now feels lonely and needing occupation.Emma decides that since her first go at matchmaking went so well that she'll give it another go much to her friend and neighbor, Mr. Knightley's chagrin. He tells her not to meddle and he is particularly concerned when she meddles with a young, naive girl boarding at the nearby Goddard school. Harriet is a sweet girl, but she has no claims to family or good breeding. Emma elevates her to the status of Miss Emma Woodhouse's particular friend and then sets about bringing Harriet and the reverend, Mr. Elton, together.Added to her machinations on Harriet's behalf, Emma is further unsettled by the arrival in the village of an accomplished young woman that Emma sets up as her rival, Miss Jane Fairfax. And then there is the flirty and friendly Frank Churchill. All the while, Mr. Knightley frowns on many of Emma's choices and way of looking at things. Emma learns when it is too late that she was so busy about other's business that she might have missed her own shot at happiness. This was a delightful read in many ways. I enjoyed the graphics particularly the expressiveness of the characters. I felt they depicted the characters well. I also enjoyed that much of the original novel is encapsulated so well that I had no trouble recognizing the story. There was good dialogue and mental monologues that kept me interested and involved. One thing that really stood out as a nice addition was that certain secondary characters were brought out more to me. I liked how Frank Churchill and Jane Fairfax seemed to have a side story going. Now the part that fell short for me was Emma, herself, or at least the way I felt Emma was depicted. I never really got this from reading the original, but in this one, she came across as a class-conscious snob and self-absorbed. She notices nothing of real importance and even argues with everyone who contradicts her or tries to point out to her what she is missing. I'll grant you this; she had a huge growth arc in the story and I was glad to finally see in the end that she realized all her mess-ups. But where the novel portrays her as someone trying to be good and kind and going about it wrong, this one didn't give that vibe. It could just be me and others won't get that impression.Regardless, it is worth the read and I love the added dimension that a graphic novel can bring to a story. Those who wish for a reacquaintance with the classics or a first introduction might find this a nice option. My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This portrayal reflects the themes of the original story and the artwork helps illustrate these ideas as well. The storyarc follows the classic version pretty closely all the while maintaining a distinctive uniqueness all its own. The characters are exemplified by the art. It doesn't matter if you have read the original work or not, but if you enjoy this Manga Classics, then I encourage you to read it. I am a huge fan of this series! It's fun and perfect for fans of adaptations in various forms. Potentially a great way to introduce readers who prefer manga to classic stories.Net Galley Feedback

Anthony Motavato’s life was shattered forever on the morning of April 19, 1995 when he lost his beautiful daughter. Unable to cope with his new reality, Anthony left town and has drifted on the lonely fringes of alcoholism in the years since the tragedy. Realizing his time is short, Anthony finally returns home to face the family he left behind. As he tries to regain his faith and make peace with the people that still love him, he is pulled into the tapestry of lies surrounding the deadliest act of domestic terrorism on United States soil. The only way he can find the forgiveness he seeks is by reliving it all over again. Oklahoma Ghost Dance takes you into the darkest places of imagination. From a plot born within the ashes of the Waco massacre, it slowly untangles historic events surrounding the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing. Jeff Wilson, author of the highly acclaimed novel, Queen Anne’s Revenge, weaves a haunting story of love, heartbreak and redemption.

I really enjoyed this suspenseful By Sangrand I really enjoyed this suspenseful, thoughtful novel about the events before and after the Oklahoma City bombing, I found the research to be very thorough but in no way taking away from the depiction of both real people and fictional characters who represent some of people most affected by the bombing. The steady, suspenseful pace will keep you involved all the way through.

By Susan Sullivan The book begins with a letter from Lonely Bear, a mystic healer and the main narrator of this amazing story. It gives an ominous warning that there will be a price to pay for learning the truth. This book holds nothing back! It starts in Waco, Texas where the bombing plot originated as the siege of the Branch Davidian compound comes to a fiery end. Each chapter brings strange players that helped plan and complete the tragedy of April 19, 1995 in Oklahoma City. The Author uses a fictitious character, Jericho Daniels, to piece the well-researched plot together. In the aftermath, the main character Anthony Motavato’s story comes into focus. Instead of treading on the victims privacy, a composite family is used to show the consequences of the bombing. It is a touching story of love and loss that is filled with more information then has ever been disclosed before. I believe it will resonate with a positive light to those that have experienced the loss of a loved one as I have. This novel takes many chances that pay off in good way for the reader. As the narrator changes, so seems the style of the book. Not too many books can pull this off in such an effective way. I was a young mother raising a family when the bombing happened. My memory was limited to a few brief news clips before the media began ignoring the entire terrorist act. I learned so much history reading this and was able to learn why it happened. It is a truly original story with unforgettable characters that keep you awake at night. It is sad that the real people responsible, got away with the murder of so many innocent people including children. This is only one of the topics the book exposes without knocking the readers over the head with useless facts concerning the cover up. The viewer is allowed to make up his or her own minds about what happened that day, without being preached to. I think it is incredible that the truth is finally out as to who was involved. The book answers every question from who John Doe #2 is. to why the bombing was covered up so quickly. Unfortunately, this book is not for everyone. If you are seeking a fluff-piece or time killer, it is best to pass on this one. I highly recommend this great work of fiction even though it is a very controversial. Oklahoma Ghost Dance exposes the “official narrative” for the fraud that it is. This is an important story that should be on everyone’s reading list that cares about truth and justice. Like the book states in the prologue, once you know the truth, there is no turning back. Some scars will never heal.

An important story told in a gripping manner By gandyd Although it was two decades ago, I vividly recall the events at Waco, Ruby Ridge, and the horrific slaughter of the Oklahoma City bombing, so I was fascinated by the detailed account of this most deadly act of domestic terrorism. The anti-government, paramilitary movement was in full swing and the author takes you inside that strange, violent world to spend time with the people who reside there. The fringe people who populate those groups, their brittle personalities, their insecurities, the childhood abuse they suffered; born losers seeking a purpose in life and who end up in these quite pathetic, but extremely dangerous, “families.”It's an important story, and appears very well-researched. I learned a lot of things I was previously unaware of, including possible cover ups by government agencies. But in the end, the sad and poignant journey Anthony Motavato and other family members of little Jaci Rae must take after her demise in the bombing truly grips the reader. I was left identifying with their sorrow and pain.
